Bridge Terms

Retreat  Making a questionable bid knowing that if you get doubled you have a retreat all planned out. An example is bidding a risky 3NT. If they double, you run to your suit instead.

Full Deal  Looking at the whole hand like in the newspaper rather than just a couple of the hands like when reading Bridge problems in a book or actually playing.

Pitching  Throwing away cards. Discarding when a long suit is run.

Book Lead  The standard lead for a given situation. If you looked it up, all the books would tell you the same thing.
