Bridge Dummy Story

Low Board

A small duplicate game for beginners it was. North was one of those people who didn't like to fully arrange their cards lest the opponents's glean valuable information from where they took certain cards during play of the hand. As it was, North became Dummy on this fateful hand and as they tabled their cards for a 4S contract, the 3 of Clubs landed 'Above' the 5 of Clubs. Nothing to worry about.

Play proceded normally, Opening lead was won, trumps drawn, and the Ace of Clubs cashed by Declarer - on which the 5 of Clubs was put in from Dummy, it being the lowest club spot. A successful Club finesse was taken which captured the Q. The Heart and Diamond suits were played out with the 12th trick of the hand being won on the Board. Dummy's last card, the 3 of Clubs, was led 'round with East and Declarer playing off. West smiled broadly and of course produced the 4 of Clubs for a 1 trick set.
