Play Of The Hand

The contract is still 4H and the plan is to setup and run the Spades. But now South wants to draw 2 rounds of trump first just to be on the safe side.

1) West leads the QD to dummy's King and East's Ace.
2) East returns a Diamond ruffed in hand.
3) The Ace of Hearts is led by South.

Play Of The Hand

In this hand you can't cash just the AH and then start the Spades since East will ruff in and the opponents will get AD, KH, QH, Spade ruff.
The key to playing a 4-4 trump fit is to not lose control. If they have higher trumps than you, it can be wise to give them one early before you short yourself. Trump control is the key.
