Bridge Terms

Right Side  Sometimes a contract is makeable when North is declarer while it can't be made when South declares the hand. This happens a lot if you have a Tenace. It's important that the "Right Side" plays the contract.

Tenace  A card combination like K x or K J. If the person to your left leads this suit, you're safe. If the person to your right leads through your "Tenace" you stand to lose. Maybe your partner should have declared the hand so the Right Side was declarer.

Stone Age Bids  Out of date bidding methods that uses few if any conventions. Tournament players today use a variety of conventions on offense, defense, and in competitive bidding situations.

Honest Suit  When a suit splits 4-3-3-3 it is said to be "Honest".
