After North's jumpshift, South jumps to show a solid suit but little else. North goes Blackwood to check on Aces and 6H it is. West leads the KS.

PLAY OF THE HAND

As East things don't look so good for your side.

1)   West's KS holds as everyone plays little ones.
2)   West leads a Club for lack of anything better and Dummy wins the QD.
3)   The trump 9 is led and finessed through East, Declarer playing low.

PLAY OF THE HAND

Things are routine and you see little hope.

4)   The last Heart is led from Dummy and you are finessed again, Declarer winning their Queen.
5)   South cashes their AH dropping your King.

PLAY OF THE HAND

South has no trouble winning the rest of the tricks with the good tricks in Dummy and 4 trumps left in hand. Where could you have played differently?

REPLAY OF THE HAND

The key to the hand is your play to the very first trick.

1)   West leads the KS and you signal with the 10. This is a "come on" telling them to lead it again.
2)   West dutifully leads the AS which is ruffed by Dummy. West gives you a bad look.
3)   North leads the 9H and finesses your King once again. So how have you gained?

RECAP OF THE HAND

Your brilliant play at trick one has foiled Declarer. You have 2 trump left but they can't finesse you. The KH will have to become the setting trick!
You must think like a Declarer. You know they are going to finesse you, they can't finesse West even if they wanted to. So you must make it so they can't repeatedly finesse you. Well done!

Thanks for Playing.

You don't learn something by trying it just one time. Come back in 3 or 4 days
and try this hand again so you really know it and recognize the situation.

New hand later.
Come back next week.
